African Diaries is the brainchild of Anthony Clarence Seruwagi and Claire Liu Yang.

This is the birthing ground for real identity expression: a space for African artists, musicians, and technologists to tell their own stories. Through storytelling, the representation of “otherness” is unbound and the possibility of the next generation in Africa and beyond is unlocked.

Our Vision

  1. STORYTELLING: Unbound the assumptions and biases embedded in current African stories as told from colonial perspectives in traditional Western settings. Preserve and foster grassroot, authentic, and oral inter-generational aspects of storytelling. Provide public spaces for African artists, musicians, and technologists to tell stories of native art, culture, and entrepreneurship.

  2. GROWTH: Unlock the potential of the next generation of young Africans. Provide real-life role models to inspire their own voices, identities, and ideas. Empower and give voice to homegrown African talents to showcase creativity and accomplishment to the world.

  3. ECOSYSTEM: Create a generational track record of excellence and heritage of success between African role models and future talents. Create an ecosystem of circular mentorship that sets up today’s young generation to be the mentors of tomorrow.
